Julicher Estate Chardonnay 2012
Viticulture - This Chardonnay is made from the combined crop of two different clones of different age harvested from our Te Muna Road vineyard.
Winemaking - The hand picked grapes were whole-bunch pressed without skin contact. Part of the juice was pressed straight to barrels and the rest was cold-settled and racked to a mixture of 1 year and older French barrels for fermentation. After fermentation the wine was aged on lees with regular stirring and underwent partial malolactic fermentation. Minimal fining and sterile filtering before bottling.
Colour - Golden straw.
Aroma - Creamy, toasty and slightly smoky with aromas of grapefruit and lemon
Palate - Savoury and toasty texture with underlying flavours of grapefruit. Rich, smooth and round with a long finish.
Cellaring Potential - For current drinking, but will age gracefully. Serve chilled.
