Julicher Te Muna Road Riesling 2018
Viticulture: This wine is made from sustainably-grown Riesling grapes, hand harvested from our estate vineyard in Te Muna Road, Martinborough. The picking was later in a perfect growing season, to promote the ripe full flavours of the Riesling grape.
Winemaking: The grapes were whole-bunch pressed with only short skin contact. The juice was settled overnight, then racked clear to a stainless steel tank for fermentation. The ferment was cool and long, taking 55 days to complete. The wine was not fined and was only partly cold stabilised to reduce flavour loss, deposits may remain! A light filtering prior to bottling, ensured this vegetarian and vegan-friendly wine is full bodied.
Colour: Pale gold.
Aroma: The lifted nose exudes fragrant lime blossom and lemon zest, which punch through the freshly plucked apricot.
Palate: The wine is fine boned, yet powerful. The purity of the acid line lengthens the wine, while the balance of the natural sugar provides mid-palate weight. The phenolic structure is light and slightly dusty, providing a perfect juxtaposition to the residual sugar left after ferment.
